Introduction to Self-Publishing
Hi there, and welcome to the world of self-publishing. In this book, I want to give you a solid grounding on what self-publishing is and isn’t, as well as providing you with a clear and concise method of how to go about publishing your own book as easily and as stress-free as possible. I’m going to talk about some of the things you should consider before embarking on your self-publishing journey that will make the ride a little bit smoother, as well as some things you can do once your book is published to help make it more successful.
In the back of the book, I have also included a reference section that contains links to people, companies, and additional information to help you further.
One thing to note from the start is that this book assumes that you already have, or are well on your way to having, a completed first draft of your book written. This book does not touch on how to write or structure a book; mainly because that is not my area of expertise, but also because how you go about writing a good book differs fiction to non-fiction, genre to genre. If you want advice on how to write a book, there are hundreds if not thousands of books on the subject, as well as numerous online courses and coaches around the world who can help you. To get you started, I have listed the few that I can personally recommend in the references to.
The how-to section of this book contains screenshots to illustrate each step of the process for listing and publishing your book. Every effort has been made to make sure that these screenshots are as up-to-date as possible however technology evolves, and things change. To keep you up to date with the latest developments from the various publishing platforms that I discuss in this book, I have created an online resource where you can find full-size versions of all screenshots as well as additional tools and resources that you might find helpful.
